I decided to begin my year by organizing something in the house that was not such a major problem but was also not a very big project. FlyLady states not to pull out what you can't put back in an hour but my quote will be don't pull out what you can't put back in a WEEK! No one has the time to go through things (seriously!) in order to organize them and make them the way you WANT them to become.

So, I give you my first project of 2013- Organizing the upstairs bathroom closest!

Here are several BEFORE pictures...
mind you our closet is very old!
Who in the world needs extra toilet seats that are probably already broken anyways?!
Please take note of the random door handle set (top right) that is VERY old!

Lots and lots and lots and lots of shampoos, conditioners, deodorants, etc. etc. etc.!

Our messy supply of cleaning supplies!

Step 1: Pull EVERYTHING out of you bathroom closet and examine what you have. You should go through everything and see if there are any items that you want to throw away.

That's a lot of items! EEEK!!!!
Step 2: Organize the items into different categories. Some of my categories included "make-up", "shampoo", "personal products', "lotions", etc.

Nice and organized!

Step 3: Buy baskets to put your closet items into or use ones that you have. Use whatever you would like whether or be something simple from the dollar store like mine or something fancy like I pinned onto my Pinterest account here. In addition to baskets, if you want to label your baskets you could simply use paper and yarn I did or something more fancy like I have pinned here. You may also need scissors and a hole puncher if you are using string like I did.

Step 4: Go ahead and put your items into each basket according to their category. Doing this will also let you know if you need more baskets.
Looking good!

Step 5: Using your scissors and string, tie each label to the basket.

Don't worry if your label is not "PERFECTLY" tied to your basket.
This is not about perfection but organization!
Step 6: Put your organized baskets back into your closet and ENJOY!

AFTER pictures:

Soooooooo nice and organized!

I didn't have enough room for all of my baskets so I had to put a few
of the smaller sized baskets on top of the bigger ones....oops!

Everything has a place!
And of course it isn't a serious project until you hurt yourself haha! ;) I took out all of the items that were old and not being used anymore (and were taking up space!) and put them in a basket to go through to see if we wanted to keep them or throw them away. Don't look at the rest of the pictures if you do not like seeing a leg scrape! ;)

Notice that big piece of metal sticking out?
Yea...about that...

Looks very dangerous and pointy, eh?

My ouchie!

Welcome! I decided to start a blog in order to document the year of 2012...um, I mean't 2013! It's a habit to type and write 2012 and it is hard to change habits. My New Year's Resolutions this year do not (specifically) include losing weight like many others. I am going to create a list that I will continually add to that I want to do or NEED to do this year. I plan to come back here and document what I have done by adding pictures and details.

The reason why I decided to name my blog "The Empty Book" is because of the quote by Edith Lovejoy Pierce: We will open the book. Its pages are blank. We are going to put words on the ourselves. The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter is New Year's Day.

What a beautiful quote for those who are not even into writing or reading books. A brand new year can mean a brand new start whether it is making healthier choices, making more money, spending more time with your family or friends, more time spent in prayer or it could be finally going to the dentist, organizing that junky bathroom closet!

2013 can be your year if you just begin doing what you want to do. So create a list of items that you want to do this year and prepare to write it in YOUR book.
